PILE

IndepenDANCE 25

The Princess Theatre

The worm is comfortable under its blanket of warm packed earth.

Folded into darkness, inching slowly towards nothing in particular.

The worm doesn’t wonder or desire for more, for more is unknown.

EXOCYTOSIS

Solstice Dance Collective

Anywhere Festival Brisbane 2025, The Paint Factory

How does happiness occur? Prepare to embark on a voyage through the human brain, following the path of the neurotransmitter, Dopamine. 'Exocytosis' portrays the release, absorption and effects that dopamine has on us. The movements in this contemporary piece are derived directly from factual biological processes that occur during the release of Dopamine. Enjoy as you witness Dopamine's internal journey and view a live representation of what happens in your mind.

Hold To / Pink Cherry

IndepenDANCE 2024

Thomas Dixon Centre

Enter the media-sphere and discover your own pink body double. Pink Cherry is an exploration into the legacies of western media, feminine archetypes, and the mirror self.

'Hold To' explores ideas of social influence and constructions of the self, as related to Charles Horton Cooley's Looking Glass Self theory. Here, performers break down notions of perception, seeing, and mirroring, to closely interrogate their bodies, selves, and the surrounding environment.

PPL PWR

Connect Dance Ensemble

Anywhere Festival Brisbane 2023, Archerfield Airport

PPL PWR is an immersive work of contemporary dance that explores how we communicate visually, verbally, and physically to form meaningful and impactful connections. Removing the space between seating and stage, the dancers perform for and with the audience to create a three-dimensional production that is intimate and inviting.

Somnium

MOTUS Collective

Warped realities, changing scenes in the blink of an eye, the unsettling, uncanny nightmare realm and the almost unexplainable whacky goings on.

Is this my dream or yours?

'Somnium' came to fruition in 2023 as a part of Phluxus2 Dance Collective's IndepenDANCE project, and soon after was adapted into a full-length work, performing at  Anywhere Festival Brisbane, HOTA, and NAFA in 2024.

In the creation of this piece, we have been inspired by states of dreaming and the imaginings of our unconscious minds. Our process included dream retelling, delving into various animal personalities, object research, and play with cat tunnels.

Let your thoughts run wild and come along for the journey.
